About Ajani Village

Ajani Village stands as the head village within the town of Ichida in Anambra State. As the custodian of the town's primary traditions, Ajani occupies a position of significant historical responsibility and cultural leadership.

Obodo Ojiagwu Na Ube Okpoko

The "guy name" or praise title of Ajani is "Obodo Ojiagwu Na Ube Okpoko". This title reflects the village's ancestral strength and its role as a protective and guiding force within the broader Ichida community.

History and Ancestral Roots

Ajani is composed of major lineages including Nebagwuna Elimehi, Unudunnu, Umuebo Aji, and Obi Chukwu. The Nebagwu group further consists of Obiuga, Umuozala, Ihunkwo, and Umuokwamma.

Isiube and Ancestral Importance

Ajani is the head village of Ichida because Isiube is the head kindred. This primacy stems from the fact that Ezikwu and Ezeigwe, the direct children of the town's ancestors Okotu and Nwamgbodi, lived in Isiube. The present Isiube kindred hall stands on the very compound where they resided.

Ajani Heritage: A Bridge Across Generations

Ajani Day Celebration
Message to Ajani Sons
& Daughters

Ajani Day is a time of cultural revival and communal bonding. It serves as a bridge between generations, ensuring that the history and values of the village are passed down.

The celebration includes cultural displays, such as performances by the legendary Ajani women dancers and singers, including Mrs. Anene Ezekeke and the late soloist Mrs. Mgboye Dima. It is also a time to honor the 15-man Welfare Committee members who have served as the "lions" of the community.

Ajani’s history is a trust handed down to us.
We encourage every Ajani indigene — young or old, home or abroad — to preserve our values, respect our institutions, and pass this knowledge to future generations.

To the younger generation: Your heritage is a garment of honor. We encourage you to study the records of our elders, such as those of late Mr. John Humble Ojukwu, and to uphold the peaceful and developmental spirit of Ajani. Our legacy is preserved through your commitment to the village's institutions.

Contact and Community Engagement

We invite all Ajani indigenes, particularly those in the diaspora, to stay connected. Your support for cultural preservation and community welfare ensures that Ajani remains the proud head of Ichida.
